my paintings

My paintings begin with an exploration into differences and opposites. Building layer upon layer in response to marks, colours, shapes and passages that resonate with me. The surface relief suggests history as collage is added, and paint builds up. I am excited by unpredictable combinations of the accidental and intentional, laboured and free marks in paint and mixed media.
